Contemporary November Wedding in Buffalo, NY

May 27, 2022

You know those clients that reach out and instantly you’re like, “yep, these are my people”? Well, let me tell you. As soon as I read Marissa and Sam’s inquiry, I knew it my heart. They wrote “we love tattoos and pizza” – SAY NO MORE! I quickly learned that Sam and Marissa have hearts of gold, and so much love for one another. Amidst planning their wedding, Sam was getting his Master’s degree from Alabama to become a professor. And Marissa? She’s the definition of a boss-lady! Not only is she a Spanish teacher and a baker, but her and Sam run a vintage thrift store on Instagram. A couple after my very own heart! Before we jump into their absolutely perfect contemporary November wedding in Buffalo, NY, I need to gush about their engagement photos.

Sam and Marissa really wanted to embrace the Buffalo winter-vibes for their engagement session. If you’re from New York, you know how unpredictable the weather can be – especially in the winter. The day of their engagement session, we met up at a coffee shop for some cozy photos. While sipping our warm beverages, we checked the forecast. 0% chance of snow; great odds, right?! Well, after wrapping up the photos at the coffee shop, we looked outside to see a blizzard. Immediately, they were like, “let’s do this thing”. As if I wasn’t already loving them enough at that moment, their go-with-the-flow attitudes just made me love them even more! I couldn’t wait for their wedding day.

Sam and Marissa’s wedding day was filled with so much genuine, authentic love. I don’t think we could’ve asked for a better Fall day to celebrate their marriage. Just as I expected, they were so easy going throughout their entire day. After their beautiful ceremony, we were able to spend some time at Hoyt Lake taking in the most perfect cotton candy sunset. The water was so calm, which made the pink and purple colors reflect beautifully. When we wrapped up their romantics, we headed back to the reception space to get our party on! Sam and Marissa’s wedding guests were full of so much energy – and I was living for it.

It was truly such an honor capturing Sam and Marissa’s contemporary November wedding in Buffalo, NY. I am forever being reminded why I love what I do so much. If you’re ready to make some magic together, I’d love to connect! As always, let’s be friends over on IG – @michellegodfreyphoto
