This has been on my bucket list forever! An engagement session in the Adirondack Mountains, New York! My husband and I visited for the first time and I knew I had to find a couple to photograph! I put up a little model call and within a couple hours I was chatting with Elizabeth!
I will not lie, going somewhere for the first time and scouting locations was A LOT harder than I had anticipated. Luckily, Mac and Elizabeth were so kind and gave me a bunch of location ideas to check out! I am learning that you cannot plan every single minute of a session. You have to leave room for the unknown, because that’s the sweet spot for spontaneous moments that I always end up loving way more than anything I had planned in my head.
My husband and I climbed a few mountains while we were there but I have to admit, my favorite spot ended up being one that Mac and Elizabeth kindly suggested. It is just a nice big flat loop that opens up to a giant field but the views of the mountains are def worth checking out haha! We ended our session here for blue hour!

The Proposal Story
I love finding out how the proposal went down! It’s usually my first question because I can’t wait to find out! No matter what the actual story is, whether it was something simple or a big grand gesture, my favorite is just listening to the WAY they tell it and the excitement is my favorite!
Elizabeth said they had plans to go out to dinner with his parents, his sister and her boyfriend to a brewery in Tupper lake. On the way there, Mac said he needed to stop at a camp he caretakers for and that he had to put the chairs in the boat house and take them off of the dock before it rained. I offered to help and walked with him down to the dock. Then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! She was totally shocked and pretty sure blacked out for the whole thing hahaha. Then all of a sudden while they were hugging after she said yes, his sister and best friend flew out of the boat house and had captured the entire thing!
Mac planned every single detail himself.
After, he told her they were going to celebrate with his parents at his family’s camp. When they got to the camp, Elizabeth’s mom, aunts and grandma were all there along with all of Mac’s family. He arranged for her family to come up from Syracuse to be there and completely surprise her. She cried hysterically when she saw them and it meant so much that he did everything in his power to make the moment so special!
To say I am a little obsessed with this engagement session in the Adirondack Mountains is an understatement! My next goal is to find a couple crazy enough to spend the day hiking with me for some photos at the very top!
